Why are eye creams important?

I see this discussion quite a lot, some people aren't sure whether to use one, some people don't believe they need them, some people just want to extend whatever oil/cream they're using on their face around their eyes.
I'm not saying any of it's wrong, I want to write about what I've been taught over the years and hopefully what I can do to keep my eye area healthy and wrinkle free as I approach the big 4-0 in less than 2 years.
The area around our eyes is incredibly fragile and is far more prone to aging and displaying signs of fatigue than any other area on our face. Due to constantly moving and squinting (think major work out!) this also speeds up the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Then you may also be susceptible to fluid retention under the eyes, leading to puffiness and dark circles.
Dark circles are primarily genetic, but is also helped by sun damage which also greatly affects fine lines and wrinkles.
So what to do?
In an effort to keep this short, you do need a dedicated eye cream. A cream designed for your face isn't going to address your eye issues.
There are some creams out there which make some real hefty claims and to my knowledge, dark circles can't be cured with a cream.
I've been using an eye cream since I was 15 and at 38, I (knock on wood) don't yet suffer any issues. I'm anal about keeping my eye area hydrated.
Anyone have any eye creams they love?

Seriously the best mask duo! I've been doing the Cacao Mask followed by Petal once a week for 3 weeks now and my skin is in heaven! What are other good combos?

It's a sad day 😞 Both my favourite, morning cleansers that happen to be luscious balms have come to their fateful end.
This was my second pot of De Mamiel this winter and first of the Unveil.
Both will undoubtedly be repurchased, however I will be holding off until next fall/winter.
A) I have 2 new cleansers waiting to be opened.
B) Seasons will be changing momentarily as will my skins needs and I find myself reaching for more oils and gels.
C) I'm trying (and hopefully succeeding) in reducing the size of my skincare hoarding issue.
That being said, @inggus25 keeps enabling me and since I haven't bought anything all month, should I decide to replace one, I've narrowed it down to Votary Super Seed Cleansing Oil, De Mamiel Cleansing Dew or Josh Rosebrook Complete Moisture Cleanse (or possibly Sulwhasoo Cleansing Oil). Interested to hear any and all opinions!

ZO Skin Health Ossential Daily Power Defense

The aim behind this lightweight serum is to lessen fine lines, wrinkles and discolouration, while healing sun damage, increasing moisture as well as bolstering thinning skin.
It contains DNA Repair Enzymes that attatch to your own DNA molecules to help repair oxidative stress caused by UV exposure and uneven pigmentation, while antioxidants and time release retinol help restore skin function and elasticity.
When I spoke with @skin_by_shea, the loveliest ZO skin specialist, she described the product as "The Daily Power Defense is one of our "hero" products. It's your five-in-one. It strengthens the skin, improves barrier function, stabilises the dermis, nourishes the cells with DNA repairing enzymes and it includes retinol. It's amazing and will truly change your skin".
Like all of the ZO products, the packaging is fantastic. This 1oz travel size comes in a super air tight pump and I use 2 pumps for the whole face.
I've been using this daily for going on 4 weeks now and the results are nothing short of amazing. I think Shea is right, it's changing my skin.
I can't pinpoint which product is doing the most work out of all the ZO products I'm using, as I believe together they are complementing each other phenomenally well, but this product is a workhorse for sure.
I've never used retinol both night and day, so that took some getting used to at the very beginning, but nothing drastic. SPF is a must like never ever before.
Once I got over the initial hurdle of (mild) peeling and the new skin began to come through, I saw barely there pores, skin beginning to tighten and firm, and the skin tone appears much more even. I'm super excited to see what else these products can do over time!

Tonight's (partial) line up courtesy of my skincare partner in crime, @inggus25. I second @staceywith_an_e earlier post. It's great sampling products that perhaps I otherwise wouldn't have bought or would have jumped to buy and because I've sampled them, known I wouldn't of been happy. A big thank you to Ing who is forever enabling me and anyone else that has very kindly sent me product. This community rocks πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ˜˜πŸ˜¬β€

Excuse the lighting discrepancy, it's as close as I could get it. The picture on the left was taken on the 6th Feb (9 days ago). The picture on the right is just now. I've been doing microneedling to tackle my PIH and results get better over time, so here is a photo to show you after my third treatment that results are still occurring. I've committed myself to 6 treatments at 4 weeks apart, so I'm hoping by the end, it will all be gone! #microneedling #acnescars
